Are you dreaming of starting a blog in 2020, but you think that blogging is dead? I get you. It is a saturated industry where competition is fierce and there’s so much online content already.
You’ve probably wondered: “Am I too late for this?”, “is it worth starting a blog in 2020?”, “would I be wasting my time?”
I asked myself the exact same questions when I started my first blog in 2018. After all who wants to take risks for nothing, right? But creating a blog has been one of the best decisions I’ve taken since it has brought many benefits to my business.
That said, if you want to know where does blogging stand in 2020 then read this brief post.
Is blogging dead in 2020?
Blogging is far from dead. It’s been evolving from what it was 10 years ago, which consisted mostly in written content. Nowadays it comes in different and more sophisticated packages.
Take a look at this graph, covering the transformation of blogging from 2004 to 2020.

As you can see in the graphic, blogging (blue) is morphing into a wider category: content marketing (green) which includes:
- Written posts.
- Email.
- Video.
- Podcasts.
- Social media.
Here’s a definition that covers perfectly the concept of blogging in 2020:
